Guidelines for Writers

Conscience Canada publications

Conscience Canada publishes articles in its semi-annual newsletter and also intermittently on its website. We welcome submissions relating to military tax resistance, peace, disarmament, and non-violent conflict resolution. We are entirely a volunteer organization and unfortunately cannot pay for articles.

We prefer that submissions be sent by e-mail to info@consciencecanada.ca

Please send your article as an attachment that you save in text only .txt format, or in .doc format (Microsoft Word 2010 or later) or .rtf (Rich Text Format). Articles can also be sent directly within your email in text-only format rather than as an attachment.

If you have suitable digital photographs, please provide these in .jpg format as attachments along with complete information in your email on credits and captions.

In general articles may vary from 300 to 1500 words in length, but please check with us about plans for upcoming newsletter issues before investing time in writing an article. Ordinarily we do not publish fiction or poetry. We sometimes print book and film reviews. We will try to reply promptly to any proposals for articles.

Please submit only original pieces. We reserve the right to edit extensively any articles submitted. Articles may be translated from English into French (or vice-versa) for Web or newsletter publication.

We welcome reprints of our newsletter articles, however we ask that anyone wanting to reprint contact Conscience Canada for permission and cite both Conscience Canada Newsletter and the original author.

Authors are completely free to make whatever use they want of their own articles, whether or not they cite Conscience Canada Newsletter as the source of first publication.

Conscience Canada Newsletter is published and distributed in hard copy and also online on our website at consciencecanada.ca.
